Artist Statement
I was born in the Midwest and reared in a rural environment. Many of my paintings reflect the land and life experiences of that environment and of what that life means to those still living separate from the city.
I am inspired by color and I make its energy known. My impressionistic style and use of abstract color amplify the moment. It is my response to color, light, shadow, negative space, and the intersecting planes of nature that translate into each landscape. The beauty of a landscape can be found in its emptiness; a place of solitude where humanity's presence is felt but not seen
