“River of Green Springs” 2019, oil pastel on birch panel primed, cradled in 5/8 inch pine painted black on the sides eliminating the need for any frame, small easel included for display, 3x6
Every spring differs but the yellow-green leaves spotlighted this green river of grass flowing between two outcroppings of woodlands at the state recreation area. Open spaces at the Mississinewa lake and other reservoir properties are common -- after spring’s bloom wilts, farmers work these strips and plant crops. Each year they leave some for the wildlife. Anyone who has hunted such DNR spaces knows theses areas well. For a time, nature has her way and paints them green.
