WET PASTEL TECHNIQUE COURSE: Below this list are more detailed explanations:

 -- pastels

-- papers or pastel boards

-- clear gesso like liquitex, Holbein, or Golden...most have pumice in them only for Lessons 2-5

-- chip brushes from the hardware store 1/2 inch, 1 inch

-- inexpensive hobby store white or yellow bristle brush with even bristles

-- vine charcoal any size(s)

-- rags or paper towels

-- water container to keep brushes wet until cleaning

-- 70 to 96 percent isopropyl alcohol with a container to hold small amounts

• PASTELS: inexpensive sets, buy the set with the most colors you can afford.

• BRUSHES:  inexpensive hobby brushes for watercolor, oil or acrylic, and at least one 1/2 and 1 inch chip brush from the hardware store.  
   

• PASTEL PAPER: Wet Techniques take a heavyweight paper and attached to a flat surface with painter's tape.  
   

• EASEL: Wet techniques are best when kept vertical. They do work flat too but the more vertical the quicker the drying time.
